CONTEXT

In 2018, nearly $800 million of potential transit funds were proposed to expand State Road 836 outside the County's Urban Development Boundary under the pretense that more highways would alleviate traffic congestion. "Another Sexy Highway" was launched to call attention to the fact that Miami-Dade needs solutions to untenable congestion - not more highways.

GOAL

To satirize Miami-Dade Expressway Authority's effort to extend State Road 836 further west and south through a 15-mile section of highway beyond the county’s Urban Development Boundary.

Results

The highway did pass the vote (unfortunately) but still faces challenges as it goes through environmental review.
